Haven

Terms of Use · Last updated: July 27, 2026

Welcome to Haven. These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Haven ("we," "us," or "the app") and govern your use of the Haven app and website. By downloading, accessing, or using Haven, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

What Haven is — and what it is not

Haven is a self-help and wellbeing app. It provides a supportive chat companion, a private journal, guided breathing and meditation sessions, mood check-ins, and a directory of licensed therapists.

Haven is not therapy, and it is not a medical service. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition, and it is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment from a qualified provider. Never disregard professional advice or delay seeking it because of something you read or were told in Haven. The therapist directory is provided for convenience; we do not employ, endorse, vet, or supervise the professionals listed, and any relationship you form with them is between you and them.

If you are in crisis. Haven is not an emergency service and cannot provide urgent help. If you are thinking about harming yourself or are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services now. In the United States, you can call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, 24 hours a day.

Who may use Haven

Haven is rated 16+ on the App Store. You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to create an account and purchase a subscription — the age rating governs who may install Haven, while account holders and subscribers must be adults. Haven is intended for adults. If a Family plan is used to give a member under 18 access, the account holder is responsible for that member's use of the app and for supervising it appropriately.

Your account

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for activity that happens under your account. Sign-in is optional and may be provided through Apple or Google. Please give us accurate information and let us know if you believe your account has been compromised.

The AI companion

Haven's chat companion is powered by artificial intelligence. Messages you send are transmitted securely to a third-party AI service in order to generate a reply. Because responses are generated automatically, they may occasionally be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for your situation, and they do not constitute professional advice. Please use your own judgment, and do not rely on the companion for medical, legal, financial, or emergency guidance.

Please do not use the companion to send content that is unlawful, abusive, hateful, or that infringes someone else's rights, and do not attempt to use it to harm yourself or others. We may suspend accounts that misuse the service.

Subscriptions, billing, and cancellation

Haven offers a free tier and the following optional auto-renewable subscriptions:

New subscribers may be offered a 7-day free trial. Prices are in U.S. dollars and may vary by region; the price shown at the point of purchase applies.

On iPhone and iPad, subscriptions are sold through Apple In-App Purchase. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. Your subscription renews automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings after purchase. If you are offered a free trial, any unused portion is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.

On Android, subscriptions are sold through Google Play Billing and are managed in your Google Play account settings. Where you subscribe through our website, payments are handled by our payment processor. Haven does not receive or store your full card details.

Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable, and we do not provide refunds for partial periods. Refund requests for purchases made through Apple are handled by Apple; requests for purchases made through Google Play are handled by Google.

We may change subscription pricing or what each plan includes. If we do, we will give you reasonable notice, and changes will not apply to a period you have already paid for.

Your content

Your journal entries, messages, and check-ins belong to you. We do not claim ownership of them. You grant us only the limited permission needed to operate the app — for example, transmitting a message to the AI service so it can generate a reply. We do not sell your content, and we do not use it for third-party advertising. How we handle information is described in our Privacy Policy.

Acceptable use

Please do not misuse Haven. Specifically, do not: reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app; interfere with or disrupt the service; attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or another user's account; scrape or bulk-download content; resell or commercially exploit the service; or use Haven in a way that breaks the law.

Availability and changes

We are always improving Haven, and we may add, change, suspend, or remove features. We try to keep the app available and working, but we cannot promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Termination

You may stop using Haven at any time, and you may cancel your subscription as described above. We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these Terms or use the app in a way that risks harm to you, to others, or to the service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — such as the disclaimers and limitations below — will survive.

Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Haven is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will meet your requirements, that content generated by the AI companion will be accurate or appropriate, or that the therapist directory is complete or current.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Haven and its owners will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data, arising out of or relating to your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim relating to Haven will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or twenty-five U.S. dollars. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Apple

If you obtained Haven from the App Store, you acknowledge that these Terms are between you and us, not Apple, and that Apple is not responsible for the app or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. Apple is not responsible for addressing any claim you have relating to the app, including product liability, regulatory compliance, or intellectual property claims. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above, and where the change is significant we will make a reasonable effort to let you know. Continuing to use Haven after an update means you accept the revised Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and the courts located there will have jurisdiction, except where the law of your country of residence requires otherwise. Nothing here removes consumer protections you are entitled to at home.

A note on wellbeing: Haven is a wellness app, not a medical service, and it is not a substitute for professional diagnosis, therapy, or treatment. If you are struggling, reaching out to a qualified professional is a good and worthwhile step.
